I specialize in destinations in the West, especially those with coastlines and lush forests. I am a frequent contributor to AAA’s print and digital outlets in the West (Via and Journey magazines), reaching over six million readers, on topics like accessible parks in Oregon and Idaho, the Willamette River’s natural history, craft beer in Portland, winter stormwatching on the Oregon Coast, and foraging in Alaska.
I have written culinary travel pieces for a number of national publications, including Serious Eats, the award-winning food/bev website with over seven million viewers monthly, where my piece on the Olympia oyster’s comeback won an editors’ “Favorite Feature Stories” designation in 2018. Recently, I’ve written sponsored content about some of Oregon’s best travel experiences: crabbing on a historic tugboat in Astoria for Travel Astoria-Warrenton, a wonderful year to sample Oregon rosés for the Oregon Wine Board, stellar local food in Cannon Beach, butterflies in Elkton, and bubbly pairings in Ashland. Other contributions to regional media include 1859 and 1889 magazines, Oregon Coast magazine, Eugene Magazine, Eugene Weekly, Eugene Register-Guard, and EaterPDX.
